Five Standing Rules.
They are not marketing. They decide which engagements we accept, how they are staffed, and what gets written down at the end.
Start A BriefFig. 02How an engagement runs. Sequence, not duration. The debrief happens whether it went perfectly or not.
The Rules
- Principals OnlyThe engineer who designs it does the work. There is no junior bench. It limits how fast we grow and guarantees what you are buying.
- Independent Advice, Declared SupplyAdvice is contracted on its own terms. Any kit we supply is declared in writing, and you are free to buy it elsewhere. Sometimes the recommendation is to buy less than you expected. For example, if a design calls for an aimed cellular antenna, we say in writing that Boothroyd Distribution supplies Cellular Path SOCA, price it separately, and name the alternatives.
- Numbers, Not AdjectivesThroughput, loss, failover time, recovery point. Adjectives are what people use when they do not have the figure.
- Sold To What We Can HonourSupport commitments match real capacity. We would rather decline than fail.
- A Debrief Every TimeWritten, with the numbers attached, including the engagements that went perfectly.
How An Engagement Runs
It opens with a brief: what must not fail, what exists, what constrains the design. Written down and agreed before anybody specifies equipment.
The design follows as a document rather than a quotation, with assumptions stated and deliverables numbered. It ends with a debrief, whether it went perfectly or not.
Growth
Senior people only.
The practice grows through advisors and partners who have run these environments themselves, named to the client who is getting them. Nobody is hired to be billed at a margin. No client ever meets a trainee on our account.
